As students return to the classrooms this fall, take the opportunity to promote the VFW’s patriotic scholarship opportunities.
The Patriot’s Pen is an essay contest for students in sixth through eighth grades. The national first-place winner receives $5,000.
The Voice of Democracy is an audio-essay contest for high school students. The national first-place winner receives a $35,000 scholarship paid directly to the recipient’s American university, college or vocational/technical school.
Entries for both contests must be received by a local participating VFW Post by midnight, Oct. 31.
The VFW Store offers promotional materials such as brochures with entry forms and posters for both contests.
You also may choose to gift the entrants with tokens of appreciation such as notepads, pens, backpacks and more, which also are available at the VFW Store.
