KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is proud to celebrate the service, sacrifice and achievements of America’s women veterans and service members throughout the month of March, Women’s History Month.
“The innumerable contributions of our nation’s women veterans cannot be overstated,” said VFW National Commander Hal Roesch II. “From Deborah Sampson, who disguised herself as a man to enlist in the Continental Army during the American Revolution, to Eileen Collins, who was among the first few women to be selected for Air Force pilot training and later became the first female astronaut to pilot a space shuttle mission, women have continued to persevere, leading our military, and our nation to be the best in the world. The VFW is honored to lift their stories, and their voices.”
