'We're All Here to Support Each Other'

Marine Corps veteran Randy Brock finds a new mission in life — using a VFW scholarship to pursue a career as a school leader and inspire the next generation.

Marine Corps veteran Randy Brock, 35, lives in Orlando, Florida, with his wife, Hannah, and their two children, Annabelle and Sullivan. Brock served four years and was stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in Havelock, North Carolina.

“I joined the Marines for the ultimate mental and physical test, to grow as a person and to serve my country,” Brock said.

Brock found the VFW’s “Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship” in a list provided by his university. He extends his gratitude to the VFW and its supporters.

“Your support helps veterans pursue educational opportunities and is very appreciated,” he said.

Brock attends the University of Alabama and will pursue his master’s degree in educational leadership. The degree will help him become a principal or assistant principal. As a teacher with several years of experience, he feels prepared to lead a school.

For veterans pursuing education, Brock reassures them that there is assistance and guidance along the way.

“Just like in the military, there is a large group to help you on your journey,” he said. “We’re all here to support each other.”
