#StillServing with Help from Man’s Best Friend

Tell us about your unique experience with service dogs, working dogs, therapy dogs or emotional support dogs

The VFW’s #StillServing campaign honors the continued commitment and sacrifice of America’s veterans. For some of those men and women, dogs have played – or continue to play – a crucial role. The VFW wants to share their stories.

As ‘man’s best friend,’ dogs often have a special bond with humans. For many veterans, that bond is uniquely important whether it’s working with a dog as a service member or a dog’s assistance in the workplace or their personal lives after leaving the military.

The VFW is collecting a wide range of stories including, but not limited to:

“We value the outstanding service these wonderful animals are able to provide and want to recognize dogs who have been or currently are a great help to us,” said Fritz Mihelcic, VFW Commander-in-Chief. “There are many veterans continuing to answer the call of duty or overcoming challenges in their lives, and we know that some of them can’t imagine doing that without a special dog by their side.”

Veterans are urged to share experiences with service dogs, working dogs, therapy dogs or emotional support dogs by submitting a brief story, and photo if possible, through the #StillServing website at todaysvfw.org/stillserving-dogs.
