A Post in Springfield, Missouri, in March organized an event that aimed to help veterans.
Members of VFW Post 3404 hosted the Veterans Resource Fair, an open house event, at their Post. The goal, according to Post Adjutant Brian Fisher, was to give veterans assistance in their daily lives.
Fisher said the event was postponed from last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We decided now was a good time to hold this open house,” said Fisher, who is a retired Air Force veteran. “VFW is a great organization that helps veterans. That is one of the main reasons I joined.”
The open house event had 24 participants, including people who could help with education, home loan and education benefits, as well as VFW service officers and representatives from other area veterans service organizations. According to Fisher, the event hosted 40 to 50 veterans from the Springfield area.
Post Commander Al Wager, a Navy veteran who served from 1959 to 1964, said helping veterans is what the Post does “24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
“We are reaching out to veterans constantly,” Wagner said. “The open house was just one way we help veterans. We are here to help with anything.”
